New York Times Book Review, geçen yıl yayımladığı “21. Yüzyılın En İyi 100 Kitabı” listesinin ardından bu kez odağını polisiye ve gerilim edebiyatına çevirdi. Gazete, 291 polisiye ve gerilim yazarı, editör, kitapçı, kütüphaneci ve eleştirmenin oylarıyla hazırlanan “The 50 Best Thriller Books of the 21st Century” listesini yayımladı.

Listenin zirvesinde, psikolojik gerilim türünü yeniden tanımlayan Gillian Flynn’in Gone Girl (Kayıp Kız) romanı yer aldı. Flynn’i, İsveçli yazar Stieg Larsson’ın The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Ejderha Dövmeli Kız) ve Dennis Lehane’in Shutter Island (Zindan Adası) izledi.

New York Times’ın değerlendirmesine göre liste, yalnızca çok satan eserleri değil; son 25 yılda gerilim edebiyatının yönünü değiştiren, türün sınırlarını genişleten romanları da kapsıyor. Oylamaya katılan isimler arasında çok sayıda romancı, yayıncı ve kitap dünyasının önde gelen temsilcileri yer aldı.
